Multiscale Materials Modeling -- Recent developments and applications

In the recent past, Multiscale Materials Modeling (MMM) has dramatically grown and simultaneously became a central idea in understanding present days’ complex and advanced materials.

The present paper provides several successfully running multiscale studies dealing with the complex and practical problems like e.g. numerical analyses of pipeline steel weldments, metal/ceramic interfaces and especially fatigue problems of metals. These innovative studies bring not just the fundamental development of MMM concepts but are also employed for a better understanding of physical phenomena in different materials - which lead to their deformation and fracture behavior.
