Vatroslav V. Grubišić, Prof. Dr.-Ing.
Dr. Vatroslav V. Grubisic is working as independent consultant, expert to court and lecturer on seminars and courses for industry and post-graduate studies since 1996. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the Technical Faculty of the University Zagreb and received Dipl.-Ing. degree in 1958. During his military service in 1959, he worked as engineer for engine maintenance at remount shipyard "Velimir Skorpik"; Sibenik 1.1.1960 he joined AEG Gas-und Industrieturbinen Fabrik, Essen, as engineer in calculation and measurement department till 30.6.1961. From 1.7.1961 until 30.6.1996 he was the leading scientist and the head of the department "Strength Analysis and Fatigue Evaluation" as well as deputy director at Fraunhofer-Institut for Structural Durability (LBF) in Darmstadt.For his Ph.D. thesis "Procedure for optimum design of automotive wheels" he received Dr.-Ing. Degree (Ph D) at the Technical High School of the Universityf Munich in 1970 and for patented test facility and method for durability approval of wheels, the Fraunhofer-Prize in 1986, for extraordinary scientific contribution to solve praxis related problems.
From 1991 until 2004 he was a Honorary Professor on the Technical Faculty of University Split, where he gave lectures related to Design, Structural Durability and Reliability and from 2004 up to 2009 related to the course "Procedures for the Structural Durability Validation" for post graduate studies at the same Faculty.
He was Visiting Professor on University of Science and Technology of China-Hefei in China, on Technical Faculty of University Zagreb in Croatia and on Technical Faculty of University Padua in Italy and was member of Consulting Board of German Society for Experimental Mechanics - VDI. He published about 250 articles and contributed to several books related to operational loading, fatigue of materials and structural durability. He is a holder of 20 patents. 2007 he received the Award as Portevin Lecturer from the International Institute of Welding (iiw) for his contribution to the structural evaluations of welded structures In 2008 he was appointed as corresponding Member of Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU).
